Faith, Philosophy, and Ethics
I am first and foremost, a Christian; secondly, a husband, father and grandfather; and ultimately, a proud American citizen. My faith is based in the knowledge of my eternal salvation through the sacrificial cross work and blood of Jesus Christ.
I abhor physical violence. It is the absolute worst way to leverage any disagreement. I will avoid violent confrontations if at all possible through evasion, negotiation, or egress. However, when confronted with no other alternative in a situation where grave physical danger threatens me, my family, loved ones, or innocent civilians, I will use every asset in my inventory of training and equipment to prevail over evil with rapidity and finality.
My actions will never be based on a desire to kill or wound, but rather focused only on stopping the threat. Unfortunately, upon occasion, the ultimate goal of stopping the threat, usually by nature of the attack being perpetrated, results in terrible human suffering and/or death. I am prepared socially, emotionally, and spiritually to live with such outcomes.
I am not paranoid but I firmly believe that Evil exists in this temporary world in which I currently reside. It is my duty to resist it and defeat it when it threatens the peace and prosperity of me, my family, my community, or my country.
I believe that with the help, guidance, and Grace of God, I am responsible for my own well-being and that of my loved ones who look to me for food, shelter, warmth, love, protection, and support. I do not believe my government owes me anything except to do the business we allow it to do on our communal behalf as citizens. I believe in charity and mercy to those truly deserving of such and I believe that, if able, one must work in order to reap the benefits of our societal protection and support.
I bear no ill-will to any race, religion, or ethnicity. But I will defend to the death my God-given rights as a human being and those granted to me by the Constitution of the United States of America.
Lt. Col. (Retired) David Grossman, Army Ranger, Ph. D., and author, describes my mindset best in the following :
May God richly bless you and yours.
